Dear Father,
I left the seminary for a few years and now wish to return. I must admit that I made a few mistakes in my life and worry that they will come back and haunt me. One such mistake was having sex a few months back. Yet, I still feel called by God to serve Him and His Church. Any Suggestions?
A return is always possible, depending on the reasons you left. Talk to your Vocation Director.
As to the sexual activity and other sins, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is in line, no matter if you would re-enter the seminary or not. An additional thing would be for God to assist you in living out a celibate life and to 'reconcile' your mind and body too. Sex affects not just at your relationship with God and the other, but scientists demonstrate that it also affects our minds and bodies, challenging us with unresolved memories. A good Spiritual Director should be able to help you to find this healing.
